Colin Read

We are beyond stoked to have Colin as one of the newest directors on our roster.

Colin first mastered the art of storytelling with an MFA in creative writing from NYU. But then, he decided to swap the pen for a camera; moonlighting as a skateboard movie director, churning out indie masterpieces like "Tengu: God of Mischief" and "Spirit Quest," that became the stuff of legends. His 20 years of personal skating experience helped to inform the blending of Colin’s two worlds. "Spirit Quest" created such a sensation that it attracted attention outside the skating world, leading to his now illustrious career in TV commercial directing.

Colin’s work is characterised by a remarkable ability to choreograph visuals, often with complex and technical camera movements, and clever edits. Whether it's the world of sports, fashion brands, or music videos, Colin's portfolio radiates energy, coolness, and modernity.

His work has been projected onto grand stages such as MoMA, the Guggenheim, and the Hammer Museum, and has gathered awards including the Clios, the MTV VMAs, the UKVMAs, the Berlin Commercial Awards, and the Vimeo Awards.

Beyond the glitz of commercials, Colin is in active development of several feature films, a testament to his multifaceted talents.

Outside the director's chair, Colin's interests span a spectrum as diverse as his creative pursuits. He is an ardent animal enthusiast - especially for his chunky rescue spaniel, and his penchant for challenges is evidenced by his unwavering commitment to conquering intricate crossword puzzles. Beyond the world of visuals, Colin moulds his creativity into tangible artistry through his recently discovered hobby, pottery.
